Thanksgiving Day

Nations observing a Thanksgiving Day include the United States, Canada, Columbia, Honduras, Liberia, and the Philippines. In the United States it occurs on the fourth Thursday of November. It was designated to occur on this date by President Lincoln in October of 1863.

Independence Recognition Day, July 20. Celebrates the official recognition of independence from France on this day in 1956.
Republic Day, July 25. A holiday commemorating the anniversary of the republic in 1957.
Bourguiba's Day, August 3. Celebrates the birthday of Habib Bourguiba (b.1902), first president of the nation.
Evacuation Day, October 15. Commemorates the withdrawal of French troops in 1962.
Accession Day, November 7. Accession of President Ben Ali.

Atatürk Commemoration and Youth & Sports Day, May 19. Commemorates the beginning of the War of Independence on the day Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun.
Rumi's Birthday, December 17. Birthday of Mawlana Rumi.
Hidrellez, May 6. The feast days of saint-prophet Khidr, and of Ilyas, who is associated with the biblical Elijah.
Ramazan Bayramı, Shawwal 1 (Nov 14, 2004). Id al-Fitr. Muslims celebrate the end of the fast of Ramadan by giving each other gifts such as chocolate, lunch or dinner, or cloths such as T-shirts or neck ties.
