Pakistan

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan was formerly the northwest part of India.

Iqbal Day, November 9. Allama Iqbal (b.1877) was a philosopher and poet of Pakistan, whose birthday is celebrated on this day.
Independence Day, August 14. Anniversary of free nation status in 1947.
Jinnah Day, September 11. A holiday on the anniversary of the death of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah (d.1948).
Pakistan Day, March 23. Anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan in 1956.
Defense Day, September 6.

Public holidays   Pakistan Day, Labor Day (May 1), Independence Day, Defense Day, Jinnah Day, Iqbal Day, Birthday of Quaid-i-Azam (Dec 25), Islamic New Year, Ashoura, Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (Mouloud), first of Ramadan, Id al-Fitr, Id al-Adha. Independence Day, October 1. The Compact of Free Association took effect on October 1, 1994. It established a constitutional government in free association with the United States.

Panama

The Republic of Panama is at the narrowest point of Central America.

Independence from Spain, November 28. Commemorates independence from Spain achieved in 1821.
Independence Day, November 3. Panama declared its independence from Columbia on this day in 1903.
Flag Day, November 4. Continues the independence celebration.
Constitution Day, March 1. Anniversary of the day the new constitution was adopted in 1946.
Revolution Anniversary Day, October 11. The National Guard overthrew the elitist government on this day in 1968 which also celebrates Columbus Day.
Mothers' Day, December 8. Immaculate Conception.
Festival of the Black Christ, October 21. A celebration in Portobelo.

In Panama City, Foundation of Panama City (Aug 15 or 16) is a public holiday. Colón has an additional Independence Day on Nov 5.

Pan American Day

Pan American Day, April 14. A holiday in Belize, Haiti, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. The anniversary of the day in 1890 when a resolution was adopted by the Pan-American Conference, then in session, to form the Pan-American Union. The day was first celebrated in 1931, and is observed by all the republics of the Americas, which constitute the Union. In Belize it is observed on October 12; Columbus Day.
