Hungary

The Republic of Hungary is in eastern Europe. The national holidays are commonly refered to by the date instead of by the long official names.

Az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc napja, March 15. "Anniversary of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence". Anniversary of the revolt against Austrian rule.
Szent István napja, az államalapítás és az új kenyér ünnepe, August 20. "St. Stephen's Day, Celebration of the Foundation of the State and of the New Bread". Commemorates Saint Stephen, the first Christian King of Hungary, who ruled between 997-1038. Today is also the "Day of the New Bread", and the first bread from the new harvest is baked especially for this day.
Az 56-os forradalom és a köztársaság kikiáltásának napja, October 23. "Anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Day of the Proclamation of the Republic". Hungary declared its independence on October 23, 1989, on the anniversary of an unsuccessful revolt in 1956 against Soviet rule.

Húsvét Hétfő, day after Easter (Apr 12, 2004). Easter Monday.
Pünkösd, fifty days after Easter (May 31, 2004). Whit Monday.
A munka ünnepe, May 1. Labor Day.
Szenteste, December 24. Christmas Eve. "Saint Eve".
Karácsony, December 25. Christmas.
