Control of Hong Kong was transfered from Great Britain back to China on July 1, 1997. See also Chinese calendar and festivals.

Birthday of Pak Tai, April 3.
Liberation Day, last Monday in August (Aug 30, 2004). Anniversary of the end of Japanese occupation in 1945. No longer a public holiday since the 1997 transfer.
Birthday of Confucious, September 22. See Confucism.
Chung Yeung Festival. [9th day of 9th month]
