The Republic of Finland is in Scandinavia.

Helsinki Day. Celebrates the founding of Helsinki, the nation's capital, in 1550. Observed since 1959.
Runeberg's Day, February 5. Celebrates the birthday of the Finnish poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg (b.1804).
Snellman Day, May 12. Celebrates the birthday of J. V. Snellman (b.1806), jounalist, statesman, and leader of the Nationalist movement.
Alexis Kivi Day, October 10. A school holiday celebrating the birthday of the Finnish author Alexis Kivi (b.1834).
Kalevala Day, February 28. A dedication to the poem Kalevala by Dr. Elias Lönnrot, and occuring on the anniversary of the preface of the first edition in 1835.
Flag Day, June 4. Flag day of the Finnish Armed Forces celebrating the birthday of Marshall Carl Gustaf Mannerheim (b.1867).
Flag Day of the Army, May 19.
Independence Day, December 6. Independence was declared from Russia in 1917.
