Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is located in central Europe. Originally V-E Day was observed on May 9, like the Soviets, but in 1992 it was moved to May 8 like the Western Europeans. The holidays in May are known as slavnimajovidny, or "Glorious May Days".

Introduction of Christianity, July 5. Honors the apostles St. Cyril and St. Methodius.

Czechoslovakia was split on January 1, 1993.
